Suomalaiset häät...

...No we are not talking about a style of hat, that my friends is Finnish for 'A Finnish Wedding' (funny language - we never did get the hang of it)

We thought it would be nice to document a few details about Ida and Luke's wedding and what made their day so special and different.

(photographs on blog by Kimmi Piggott - Not an official wedding photographer)

1. THE DRESS ('S)
The Bride made all of her own dresses. Yes you heard right. Ida is a dab hand with the sewing machine. She has never had any formal training but seeing as she started when they got engaged, she had a year to perfect it.

Dress no. 1 made for the registration. We love how they have coordinated. Note to all - Flowers are made from a bunch bought at a supermarket - Simple, cheap, and lovely. Photo by Sofia (Ida's Sister)
Dress no. 2 Royal Blue Maxi dress made for the party day.

2. THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MAKE THE DAY

Homemade bunting (By Ida, of course!) in a cute town hall.

Strip of ribbons on a wall with photographs attached of the Bride and Groom growing up, and their friends.

Party Favours - Lolly pops!

With hand stamped labels

The Book of Love... Ida created a scrap book with postcards in for people to write messages on. Also there are some heart bubbles to accompany the lolly pops!

Simple, cost effective, and pretty fabric tied into bows on the back of every chair.

Handmade (by the best friend) place settings

A lovely bouquet given to the bride as a gift.

And someone always has to turn up in a traditional costume!

Each table had an envelope with a challenge on. Our table had to battle it out in a quiz about the b&g with another table. (we won!) These chaps had to sing a traditional Finnish song to the bride. Photo Copyright: Kimmi Piggott

Games for the kids (and Kimmi) to play whilst the grownups could catch up.

Every wedding usually has an extremely cute child there to entertain. Meet Charlotte, the Groom's Niece. We LOVED her shoes, and so did she! Photo Copyright: Kimmi Piggott

CONGRATULATIONS LUKE AND IDA
