Mariage pluvieux, Mariage herueux!!

Continuing on (rather begrudgingly) with the 'British Theme' we thought it only right to blog some 'be prepared' tips in case your big day is a wash out.

To most of us, the though of rain on your wedding day is just horrific (CANCEL THE WEDDING! MOVE IT TO SPAIN! MY LOVE IS DOOMED! IT'S NOT MEANT TO BE!)

Relax, there is no need to go that far! In France they consider it lucky if it rains on your wedding day, and there are other superstisions too if that's your thing - Some say if you feed your cat on the morning of your Wedding it will bring good luck and good weather, which is all well and good if you have a cat, lets not all rush out and by one either (cat's are for life, not just for wedding day breakfast) And anyway, if you are lucky enough to own one, arn't you supposed to feed you cat every morning? hmmm.... Wheras some Catholics hang rosary beads outdoors to deter rain during their nuptials, and i'm sure in some cultures the bridesmades and groomsmen head up to the higherst peaks and perform sun dance rituals in flip flops and swim wear. (This we would love to see)

Whatever works....

For those of you who don't want to take the risk, here are a few idea's to make your big day a little more splash proof.

If in doubt - Be prepared

We would suggest stocking up on large brollies and clear rain poncho's (not the ones with flamingo's on from disneyland if you can help it)

There are some lovely umbrella's out there - Some made specifically for weddings. This classic White one does the trick - Or why not have white for the bride and black for the groom, or vise versa. Colour co-ordinating can be a great way to make it look like you 'wanted' it to rain! (of course you did right?)

Umbrella's dont have to spoil your images, they could actually enhance them - By being a little creative you could introduce words to your pictures (see blog 'The Power of Words'). Why not scour ebay for some cheap white umbrella's, get out your gold and silver marker pens and customise the umbrella's to say - 'I do' or 'Mr' & 'Mrs' or 'Just Married'

Talcum Powder: Saves the day AGAIN!

A nifty and essential tip - Keep some talc close at hand for any stains or splashes of mud you may get on your beautiful dress (if it's cream or white) - By shaking a little powder over the stain you can temporarily disguise it. When the wedding is over, contact your dressmaker/retailer and find out the best way to wash and care for your dress.

To all of you getting married this month we really hope you have a great wedding whatever the weather! At the end of the day, it is one day out of the rest of your lives and hey - if you get a little damp and cold, just think of your gorgeous new hubby who you can curl up with and keep warm when it's all over. Rain can be very romantic after all (have you not seen Four Weddings and a Funeral?)
Here's a few clips of some couples that didn't let a little rain spoil their moment...

God we love that scene!

Lots of Love
